President of Republic, AU Chairman, Receives Written Message From President of Palestinian Authority

On 11 June, in Nouakchott, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic and Chairman of the African Union (AU),  received a written message from His Excellency Mr. Mahmoud Abbas, the President of the State of Palestine. The announcement was made at the end of the audience granted to Dr. Nabil Abou Roudeina, the special envoy of the Palestinian President and spokesperson for the Palestinian Presidency.

In a statement to the Mauritanian news agency, the Palestinian official indicated that he delivered a message from President Mahmoud Abbas to Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, expressing his appreciation and thanks for the constant and unwavering support of Mauritania to the Palestinian cause.

He added that he informed the President of the Republic about the current situation in Palestine, the unjust war of extermination waged by Israel against the Palestinian people, and Israel’s constant attempts to end the Palestinian cause.

Mr. Abou Roudeina added that Palestinians are facing a brutal war in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East al-Quds, aimed at ending their sacred national project.

He called on the international community to end this aggression, accelerate the entry of aid, and rebuild Gaza, where more than 70% of buildings and infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, and humanitarian centers, were destroyed.

Mahmoud Abbas’s envoy indicated that the Palestinians thank and appreciate the Mauritanian people who have always supported the Palestinian cause, stressing that the State of Palestine and Mauritania have a clear vision of the establishment of a Palestinian state and the preservation of Palestinian national rights in the interest of the Palestinian people and that of the Arab nation.
