On 11 May, in Kiffa, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, supervised the launch of important development projects in Kiffa.
The first package concerns the launch of the project to extend the drinking water supply system of the city of Kiffa from the Bougadoum area, pending the implementation of the structuring drinking water supply project of the city from the Senegal River, which will put an end to the water challenge in the area once and for all.
The second package relates to the project to build 368 housing units in Kiffa located in the southern extension zone of the city, including 60 concerned by the inauguration. These housing units are part of TAAZOUR’s DARI program of 1,932 social housing units launched in ten regional capitals: Nema, Aioun, Kiffa, Tidjikdja, Aleg, Selibabi, Kaedi, Rosso, Akjoujt, and Atar.
The third package concerns the launch of the Solid Waste Management project, which includes the acquisition of 6 lift-off container trucks for the transport of solid waste, 18 garbage bins, a loader, and 14 tricycles. It also plans to build a Technical Landfill Center (TLC), as well as the construction of a temporary solid waste repository, in addition to other components.
The fourth component includes the inauguration of two cereal storage stores in Kiffa, with a total capacity of 30,000 tons.
These warehouses, which will strengthen the storage capacities of the Food Safety Commissioner in Kiffa, will serve as a central supply point for the wilayas of the center and east of the country and will ensure optimal management of food stocks.
As for the fifth component, it concerns the launch of the agricultural mechanization project by providing agricultural equipment to regional councils.
The last project concerns the inauguration of the inter-regional Blood Transfusion center in Kiffa.
This regional blood transfusion center should make it possible to supply the wilayas of Hodh El Gharbi, Hodh El Charghi, and Tagant with blood derivatives (concentrated red blood cells, concentrated platelets, and fresh frozen plasma). It will also permit the splitting of blood, which was only done in Nouakchott.
