President of Republic Receives Special Envoy From Rwandan President

On 25 March, in Nouakchott, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic and Chairman of the African Union, received HE Mr. Vincent Biruta, the Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, special envoy of His Excellency Mr. Paul Kagame, the President of the Republic of Rwanda.

The talks focused on cooperation between the two countries, ways to expand them to serve the common interests of the two friendly people and issues of common interest.

Shortly after the meeting, the special envoy of the Rwandan President made the following statement:

“I had the honor of being received by His Excellency the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, to whom I conveyed a message from his counterpart and friend, the President of Rwanda, His Excellency Paul Kagame.

The message concerns issues of bilateral relations. We have excellent cooperative relations with Mauritania. The message also concerns continental issues as His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Mauritania, has also held the presidency of the African Union since February 2024.

The message also consisted of expressing the support of His Excellency the President of Rwanda for his brother, the President of Mauritania, and to harmonize our views on the issues which are the subject of the program of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Mauritania who presides for this year the African Union”.
