On 26 February, in Nouakchott, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, received Eng. Alhamedi Alanezi, the CEO and President of the Arab Satellite Communications Organization (Arabsat).
In a statement to the Mauritanian news agency, the Arabsat CEO and President indicated that the meeting with His Excellency the President of the Republic was fruitful and was the opportunity to congratulate His Excellency for his presidency of the African Union and for the intense desire expressed by the Mauritanian people asking His Excellency to run for a second term, noting that this desire reflects the magnitude of the achievements observed in Mauritania during the first term.
He added that he informed the President of the Republic of what has been achieved in Mauritania through the construction of a new station, which will allow the development of Mauritanian media, and the Arabsat efforts to build plans for the future and develop media, data, and communications in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
Mr. Alanezi indicated that Mauritania and Arabsat share a firm desire to develop this cooperation to achieve global competitiveness in the media and communication fields.
He added that many achievements and action plans will be carried out soon, which will make Mauritania a regional headquarters for space and data services in West Africa and a communications bridge between Africa and the Arab and Islamic worlds.
