Minister of Economy Participates in a Meeting with the German Minister of Cooperation Concerning Sahel Rigion
On Wednesday 13 December, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Abdessalam Mohamed Saleh, accompanied by a number of Sahel ministers, participated in a high-level meeting with the German delegation participating in the Global Forum on Migration held in Geneva, Switzerland.
The meeting, which was convened by German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze, rotating chair of the General Assembly of the Sahel Alliance, dealt with the situation in the Sahel region and ways to strengthen joint efforts for the benefit of refugees and displaced persons in the Sahel region.
They also discussed how to better achieve the objectives of the Global Refugee Convention in the Sahel region.
During the session, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development gave a presentation on the situation of refugees in Mauritania, highlighting the various aspects of support provided by Mauritania to this large group present on its territory.
For her part, the German Minister of Cooperation affirmed her country’s readiness to accompany and support the countries of the region to alleviate the suffering of refugees.
She also stressed the need to coordinate the efforts of the international community to confront the humanitarian crisis in the Sahel region.
