Minister of Justice Receives US Ambassador

On 24 July, in Nouakchott, the Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Cheikh Abdoullah Ben Beya, received HE Mrs. Cynthia Kirscht, the US Ambassador to Mauritania.

During the meeting, Ms. Kirscht congratulated the Minister for the progress made by our country in human rights and the Department’s efforts to improve the judicial treatment of human trafficking cases, which was highly appreciated by the American government.

The meeting focused on cooperation between the two friendly countries in light of the latest version of the US State Department’s report on human rights in the world. For his part, the Minister welcomed the Ambassador, emphasizing the government’s continued action to promote and protect human rights in general and work to improve and develop judicial treatment in the field of human trafficking and slavery-like practices by intensifying awareness-raising and training on the mechanisms introduced by the texts for the benefit of law enforcement.
