Professor Yacoub Ould Moine

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research

Yacoub Ould Moine was born in 1971. He successfully obtained in 2000 his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Angers (France) with highest honor.

He was recruited as a lecturer at the University of Nouakchott in 2005, then promoted as Professor since 2014. He was temporary Lecturer and Research Assistant in the University of Angers and a guest researcher at the University of Saitama (Japan), via a program of the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science.

He published several papers in the international literature in the topics of geometry, topology of singularities, stratifications and equi-singularity.

In 2006, he got the prestigious Mauritanian National prize for Sciences and Techniques also known as “Prix Chinguitt des Sciences et techniques” for his research on the theory of singularities of analytic functions.

Before, his appointment as Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, he was a deputy in the Mauritanian parliament between 2006-2013 and 2018-2024.
