Environment Minister Participates in Meeting on Opportunities for Global Action on Nature and Climate

The Minister of Environment, and Sustainable development, Mme Marieme Bekaye, participated, as a panelist, in a high-level event on the opportunities for global action on nature and climate. The event, which is part of the activities of the Coalition of High Ambition for Nature and People (CHA), was co-chaired by the governments of Costa Rica, France, and the United Kingdom.

In a speech on the occasion, the minister highlighted the national interventions, which rely on drawn lessons from integrated approaches to nature and climate to effectively address the biodiversity crisis.

She talked about the African initiative of the Great Green Wall as a model that can contribute to combating the loss of biodiversity and the climate crisis in the Sahara and Sahel region.

The minister called for awareness-raising among the concerned parties at the level of the international organization, particularly the Group of Seven (G7) and the Group of Twenty (G20), to have a better understanding of these issues and act accordingly.
