The Minister of National Defense supervises the launch of the “Beach Shield”

The Minister of National Defense, Mr. Hanana Ould Sidi, supervised Thursday, aboard the naval vessel ‘’Nimlane’’ at the port of Friendship in Nouakchott, the launch of the joint military maneuver between the naval and air forces; maneuver organized by the General Staff of the Armed Forces, on the 23rd and 24th, along the sea coasts

Upon his arrival at the independent port of Nouakchott, known as the Port of Friendship, the minister was received by the Commander of the General Staff of the Armies, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Bamba Meguett, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Major General Mohamed Ould Lehreitani, the Chief of Staff of the National Navy, Rear Admiral Mohamed Ould Cheikhna Ould Taleb Mostafa, and the Chief of Staff of the National Gendarmerie Major General Abdullah Ahmed Aisha.

The Minister, accompanied by the Commander of the General Staff of the Armies, reviewed units of the National Army, which gave them a salute of honor before the Minister saluted the senior leaders of the offices and directorates led by the General Staff of the Armies.

The military maneuver, called “Beach Shield” aims to prepare and train the naval and air forces to cooperate in confronting terrorism at sea and enhance the operational capabilities of the national navy and air forces in the field of maritime security and safety. it also aims a to secure our ports and waterfronts, in addition to developing operational cooperation between the two arms.

These exercises also seek to gain the ability to secure and exploit our marine resources and ensure the fulfillment of our country’s obligations towards international partners.

Fighter jets, helicopters and surveillance planes, as well as warships and combat boats take part in the maneuvers.
