The Saudi Embassy in Nouakchott held an Iftar dinner Wednesday, to commemorate the 299th anniversary of the founding of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which dates back nearly three centuries, when Imam Mohamed bin Saud – may God have mercy on him – established the first Saudi state in 1727 (1139 AH).
Representing the government at this event were the Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication, and Parliamentary Relations, the government spokesperson, Mr. Houssein Medou; and the Minister of Health, Mr. Mouhamed Mahmoud Ely Mahmoud.
In a speech on the occasion, His Excellency Dr. Abdoulaziz Abdoullah Al-Ruqabi, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Mauritania, explained that the celebration of Founding Day was approved three years ago by a royal order issued on February 22, 2022, which stipulates considering this date as a national occasion commemorated annually.
His Excellency reviewed the historical milestones of the Saudi state, highlighting that Founding Day represents the launch of the first Saudi state and the foundations it established for political, social, and economic stability in the Arabian Peninsula at the time. He also referred to the establishment of the second Saudi state by Imam Turki bin Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Saud – may God have mercy on him – up to the unification of the Kingdom by King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al-Faisal Al Saud – may God have mercy on him – who is credited, after God, with laying the foundations of the modern renaissance and enhancing the Kingdom’s status regionally and internationally.
