On 20 February, in Rome, the Italian capital, Ambassador Khadija Mbarek Fall presented her credentials to Mr. Shu Dunyu, Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in her capacity as Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to this international organization.
During the meeting, the ambassador praised the FAO’s central role in combating hunger and strengthening food security worldwide, particularly in the Sahel region. She emphasized Mauritania’s desire to strengthen cooperation with this international institution.
For his part, Mr. Shou Dounyo reaffirmed the organization’s eagerness to strengthen its close cooperation with Mauritania, welcoming Nouakchott’s hosting of the 34th session of the FAO Regional Conference for Africa (ARC34) from April 13 to 17, 2026.
