President of Republic Receives New Italian Ambassador’s Credentials

On 3 February, in Nouakchott, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, received the credentials of H.E. Ms. Paola Cristina Russo, in her capacity as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

The President of the Republic then granted an audience to the Italian diplomat, in the presence of Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad.

At the end of the meeting, the Italian diplomat made the following statement to the Mauritanian news agency:

“I am very happy to take on the role of Italian Ambassador to Mauritania, leading the Italian team in this magnificent country, serving relations between Italy and Mauritania, and in the interests of citizens.

I am eager to strengthen our ties of friendship and mutual respect in all areas.

Thank you.”
