The Governor of Ouadfet Province, Mr. Mahamoudou Ould Sidi Al-Mokhtar, last night from the village of Bouaboun in the Intercant municipality of Ouadfet Province in Adrar Region, presided over the opening of the second edition of the Bouaboun Festival for Culture and Development.
In a speech on this occasion, the governor of the province praised His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazwani for his support of cultural festivals in various regions of the country, emphasizing that this reflects his firm belief in the importance of culture in human development and in strengthening social cohesion.
He also thanked the youth of Bouaboun for their spirit of initiative and hard work in showcasing the village’s cultural and developmental assets.
In turn, the mayor of the municipality of Intirkant, Mr. Ahmed Ould Iblal, affirmed that organizing this festival comes within the framework of supporting domestic tourism, calling on the residents to work together, stay united, avoid disputes, and promote a culture of peace and national unity.
As for the festival president, Mr. Bourne Ould Terja, he expressed his satisfaction with the public authorities overseeing the opening of the second edition of this festival, emphasizing that it will contribute, over three days, to supporting local development.
The festival’s opening evening was interspersed with praises of the Prophet, poetry recitations, folk songs, and sketches addressing some national issues that promote national unity and love for the homeland.
The festival also includes a display of local products, in addition to organizing competitions in traditional games and a camel race.
