Ouadane, December 24, 2025 (MNA) – The activities of the 14th edition of the Heritage Cities Festival concluded yesterday in the city of Ouadane, under the supervision of the Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication and Parliamentary Relations, Government Spokesperson, Mr. El Houssein Ould Medou, with the presence of the Governor of Adrar, Mr. Abdullah Ould Mohamed Mahmoud, the administrative authorities in Ouadane, local elected officials, and a number of individuals interested in heritage and culture.
The Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication, and Relations with Parliament, in his closing speech, said that the Heritage Cities Festival is no longer a seasonal event, but has become a comprehensive national project where memory and development meet, where symbolism and service embrace, and where historic cities transform into a living actor in the present, not a silent witness to the past.
The minister added that Investing in culture is an investment in stability, awareness, and the future.
He pointed out that the scientific component was substantial in its content, breadth, and impact. Ouadane has hosted dozens of lectures and scientific seminars, delivered by dozens of lecturers and researchers from within the country and abroad.
In the literary and artistic realm, Oualane lived for five days to the rhythm of diverse creativity, as hundreds of artists and poets contributed to the success of this event, expressing in all our national languages the richness of Mauritanian identity and its creative diversity, in an atmosphere that confirmed that culture is an act of participation, and that linguistic and artistic diversity is a unifying national treasure.The minister highlighted That this version has opened a new horizon for thinking about the place of our cities within the broader human space.
The closing ceremony was distinguished by the awarding of prizes to the top winners in competitions of the Quran, Hadith, and the Prophet’s biography, as well as traditional archery, camel and horse races, and other competitions organized at the festival.
