The exhibition organized on the sidelines of the Heritage Cities Festival in the historic city of Oualata, in its fourteenth edition, highlights the scientific heritage and local traditional products.
The exhibition contributes to creating noticeable local economic activity, promoting Mauritania’s tangible cultural heritage locally and internationally, and restoring it to the status befitting these ancient cities, in line with the strategic vision of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, aimed at preserving the national heritage and making it a lever for development.
The exhibition is a living example of the diversity and richness of the national cultural heritage, showcasing Mauritania’s knowledge value and the creativity of local artisans. It also reflects the depth of the civilizational identity of historic cities in general, and the city of Ouadane in particular.
The exhibition provides a space for exchanging experiences and promoting the marketing of national products, which contributes to supporting the local economy and enhancing the role of heritage as a driver of sustainable development.
In this context, the Mauritanian News Agency consulted the opinions of a number of participants and exhibitors. Mrs. Mona Mint Al-Sayam, a research professor at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and a member of the Diplomatic Academic Scientific Council at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, stated that their participation today on behalf of the Union of Mauritanian Academics and Intellectuals consists of academic scientific lectures, alongside showcasing the union’s publications. She expressed their pride in being present in the city of Ouadane, ‘the Valley of Knowledge and the Valley of Dates.’
