Mauritania participates in Preparatory Meeting for Seventh Summit between African Union and European Union

The preparatory meeting of experts for the seventh summit between the African Union and the European Union kicked off on Sunday morning in Luanda, Angola, with the participation of a delegation from our country headed by Ambassador El Hussein Al-Naji, our country’s ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and permanent representative to the African Union Commission.

The summit, scheduled for 24 and 25 November under the theme: ‘Promoting peace and prosperity through effective multilateral cooperation,’ four main themes: peace and security, economic integration and trade, green and digital transitions, as well as migration and human development, as fundamental pillars of cooperation between the two continents.

Mauritania’s participation comes within the framework of its efforts to strengthen its international presence and develop its partnerships with the African and European unions, particularly in the areas of security, energy, green transition and investment, in line with its strategic priorities during the current phase.

At the conclusion of the expert meeting, the Luanda Declaration and the summit agenda were approved and referred to the summit of heads of state for ratification.
