The Minister of Trade and Tourism, Ms. Zineb Mint Ahmednah, accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication and Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesperson, Mr. El-Hussein Ould Medou, and the Governor of Gorgol, Mr. Mohamed Mokhtar Ould Abdi, presided over the launch of the activities of the Riverbank Festival and the cultural season of the province yesterday evening in the city of Kaedi
In her speech on the occasion, the Minister of Trade and Tourism emphasized that
The deep-rootedness, richness, and diversity of this land make it a crucible for a single identity, carrying the fragrance of the past, the brilliance of the present, and the aspirations of the future.She added that the launch of the West Bank Culture Season represents a moment of pride in front of a living cultural heritage that embodies the richness and diversity of Mauritania, emphasizing that the festival is a celebration of the West Bank as a cultural and civilizational dye that confirms that the national culture is an eternal river nourished by all its tributaries.
It was stated that the West Bank Festival is a culmination of the tourism and cultural seasons organized by the ministry, starting with the ‘Kaitna’ season in celebration of desert heritage, through beach tourism, and reaching the autumn season which highlighted the fertility of the land and the generosity of nature.
For his part, the Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication, and Parliamentary Relations, the government spokesperson, praised the beautiful nature and enchanting terrain of the Gorogol region, along with its agricultural and pastoral resources that make it a land of promising future.
Both the President of the Gorgol Region, Mr. Ba Amadou Abou, and the Mayor of Kaédi, Mr. Abdallah N’Diaye, expressed their pride in the state’s hosting of this event, confirming that it is an exceptional cultural and developmental occasion that enhances national unity and supports the local economy.The spokesperson for the Tourism Federation, Mr. Islam Ould Al-Sharqi, had previously stated in a speech that the launch of the River Festival reflects a pioneering national vision initiated by His Excellency the President of the Republic, calling for the exploration of the interior and its abundant natural and cultural resources, noting that this vision has manifested in previous tourism seasons that yielded tangible results in the local economy and job opportunities.The opening activities took place in the presence of the Governor of Kaédi, local elected officials, and prominent figures, along with administrative and security authorities in the state.
