Prime Minister Receives IMF Delegation

The Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Diay received on Tuesday at his office in Nouakchott, Mr Wotabona Ouattara, Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), representing Mauritania and West Africa.

The meeting discussed various areas of cooperation between Mauritania and the IMF and ways of enhancing and developing them.

In a statement to the Mauritanian News Agency after the meeting, the IMF Executive Director expressed his gratitude to HE President of the Republic Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, HE the Prime Minister, members of the government and the Governor of the Central Bank of Mauritania for the facilities provided to him that enabled him to fulfil his mission, praising the support provided by the Mauritanian government for his election as a member of the IMF Executive Board.

He expressed the IMF’s satisfaction with the good results achieved by Mauritania in the economic field.

He said his meeting with the Prime Minister was fruitful and discussed the excellent relations between Mauritania and the IMF.

He praised the pace of economic growth in the country and expressed the readiness of this international financial institution to accompany Mauritania in its efforts to achieve the desired economic and social progress and overcome the challenges in this field.
