The Minister of Water and SanitaAmal Mint Maouloud, held discussions this evening, Wednesday, with the Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsin Al-Fadli, on the sidelines of the signing ceremony of the Global Water Organization’s charter in Riyadh.The meeting addressed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the intervention sectors.
The Minister affirmed that Mauritania’s accession to this organization reflects its commitment to actively engage in relevant international initiatives and its readiness to share experiences, in line with the national water strategy, which is based on establishing an integrated management of water resources, improving access to water for all uses, enhancing sanitation services, and increasing sustainability, efficiency, and investment in the sector. She also indicated the importance of providing the organization with a ‘dedicated operational tool to deal with potential crises, which enhances its readiness and enables it to intervene quickly and effectively when needed,’ emphasizing that Mauritania ‘highly values this strategic initiative and confirms its full readiness to contribute to its success.’
