On 26 May, in Nouakchott, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, received the members of the Supervisory Board of the Democratic Opposition’s Foundation, chaired by Mr. Hamadi Sidi El Mokhtar, and composed of Messrs. Diop Amadou Tidjane, Abdessalam Ould Horma, and Sawdatou Wane.
This meeting is part of a series of meetings between the Presidency of the Republic and the Foundation of the Democratic Opposition, whose regularity His Excellency, the President of the Republic, is keen to ensure.
In a statement after the meeting, the leader of the Democratic Opposition Foundation said that the meeting was an opportunity to discuss several issues, such as the upcoming national dialogue and the position of the Supervisory Board of the Opposition Foundation on this subject.
He added that the meeting also addressed the wave of atheism and the need to tackle it, as well as corruption, the sudden wealth of certain personalities, and the need to tackle them with a strong, dissuasive policy.
The head of the Democratic Opposition Foundation stressed that the meeting also addressed drugs and their danger to young people, migration, and its related issues, the rainy season, and the need for the government to prepare to deal with the consequences of this season, particularly in the Valley wilayas, and freedoms, believing that the meeting was useful for exchange between the two parties.
