President of republic receives Algerian Minister of Internal Trade and Market Control

Nouakchott

The President of the Republic, HE Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, received a delegation from Algeria on Friday morning at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott. The delegation was led by His Excellency the Minister of Domestic Trade and Regulation of the National Market, Mr. Tayeb Zitouni.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral cooperation between the two countries and ways to develop it in a manner that serves their mutual interests.

Following the meeting, the Algerian Minister of Trade made the following statement to the Mauritanian News Agency:

“We were honored today to meet His Excellency the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. We conveyed to him the greetings of his brother, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

We informed His Excellency the President about the purpose of our visit, which aims to strengthen relations between Algeria and Mauritania through the organization of the seventh edition of the Algerian Products Exhibition in Nouakchott. This exhibition has contributed significantly to advancing Algerian-Mauritanian economic relations to the level desired by the leaders of both countries.

We also briefed His Excellency on the meetings held between Algerian and Mauritanian businessmen, whether through bilateral meetings or through employers’ unions in both Algeria and Mauritania.

Moreover, we shared with His Excellency the sincere intent we observed among business leaders to enhance existing economic relations and elevate them to the level of the excellent political relations between the two countries.

After presenting all these details, His Excellency expressed his hope that trade and economic relations would rise to the same level as the strong political relations between the two leaders.

He made several recommendations, including overcoming all obstacles, as Algeria and Mauritania are not just common markets but also share deep-rooted historical ties and distinguished political relations between their peoples, countries, and leaders.

Among his recommendations were projects such as coordination between the trade ministries of both countries in matters related to consumer protection, commercial registry, establishing partnerships, and building real businesses in both Algeria and Mauritania.

His Excellency also conveyed his sincere greetings to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and expressed hope that they would meet in upcoming scheduled political events between the two nations.”
