President of the Republic receives the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad

Nouakchott

The President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh EL Ghazouani, received, Friday at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, Dr. Mamadou Tangara.

The meeting dealt with the distinguished bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, and ways to develop and strengthen them.

Shortly after the interview, the Gambian Minister made the following statement:

I bring a message of fraternity and solidarity with Mauritania on behalf of the President of the Republic of the Gambia and the Gambian people. We thank His Excellency President El Ghazouani for the great support provided by Mauritania to The Gambia in organizing the OIC Summit, which was a great success thanks to the contribution of brotherly countries such as Mauritania.

There was a problem with the regularization of the status of residents of this country and some Gambians were affected by it.

We had a fruitful exchange with His Excellency the President on this subject, and it is important that individuals regularize their situation and the host country needs reliable data.

Unfortunately, the coasts of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic have become a graveyard for Africans, and it is important that we can work together to stop this scourge that is ravaging our societies.

We are here in Nouakchott and express our solidarity with Mauritania and wish this country well and happiness on the occasion of the month of Ramadan.

His Excellency the President has also asked me to convey his fraternal wishes to his brother and friend, President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, and to wish him a blessed Eid alFitr.

On a personal level, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the Mauritanian authorities for the welcome and hospitality we have received since our arrival in Nouakchott.”

The meeting was attended by Minister in charge of the Office of the President of the Republic, Nani Ould Chrougha, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug.

In addition to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambian Abroad, H.E. Ambassador of the Republic of the Gambia in Nouakchott, Cheikh Oumar Faye, also attended.
