Mauritanian Organization Against Passive Migration: Deporting Undocumented Migrants is not a Human Rights Crisis

Nouakchott

“The deportation of illegal immigrants is a national necessity, not a human rights crisis,” said Abah Ould Amor, head of the Mauritanian NGO Against Negative Migration.

During a press conference held last night in Nouakchott, the head of the organization explained that over the past few days, Mauritania has witnessed a campaign to deport illegal immigrants through legal means.

This campaign and other precautionary measures taken by the country’s top authorities reflect the level of official awareness of the need to control borders and protect national security, he added.

He called for the automation of jobs and professions to support youth and fight unemployment among them, and refused to deal with any worker who did not present a legal residence permit that would allow him to be on the national territory legally and guarantee him all his rights like other legal refugees to whom Mauritania opened its arms decades ago.
