President of the Republic Demands Debt Cancellation

President of the Republic, Mr Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, participated on Tursday, in Nouakchott, by a videoconferencing ,at a very high level meeting on the economic challenges arising from the security crisis in the Sahel region, during the 2020 FMI-BM annual meetings.
on this occasion, speaking on behalf of the heads of state of G5-Sahel, the President of the Republic gave a speech in which he raised the structurel problem of the economies of the sahelian countries, and once again, called for the total cancellation of the debt of the G5 Sahel countries, whose burden is heavily inflicted on state budgets.
The President added that Covid 19 pandemic has increased the challenges and worsened the already difficult security situation. The lockdown measures put in place by the countries to contain the spread of the virus have distrupted the production and distribution channels and reduced dramatically the demand on goods and services.
