On 27 November, in Nouakchott, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, received the credentials of HE Mr. Mamadou Haïdara, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Chad to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
After presenting credentials, the President of the Republic granted the new Chadian Ambassador an audience in the presence of Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad.
In a statement to Mauritanian news agency at the end of the meeting, the Chadian diplomat expressed his delight at presenting his credentials to His Excellency the President of the Republic, noting that he would work to strengthen relations of brotherhood and friendship between the two brotherly countries.
Here is the full text of the Chadian diplomat’s statement: “First of all, I would like to thank the President of the Republic, the Head of State, His Excellency Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, for receiving me and for the guidance I appreciate so much.
I would also like to thank the Mauritanian people for their hospitality and kindness. I salute my compatriots here, in Nouakchott, for their solidarity.
My presence here in Nouakchott is to strengthen bilateral relations, which are rooted in a centuries-old history and are steadily developing.
The government of Chad highly appreciates the brotherly relations between the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the Republic of Chad. My compatriots who live here, when I see their relations with their Mauritanian brothers, I find that they are in the image of the relations maintained by our Heads of State.
We must develop bilateral cooperation in the interests of both countries. I am convinced that our two countries will play an essential role in the search for solutions to problems, particularly security and peace since security is the cornerstone of all development.”
