Foreign Affairs Minister Chairs AU Executive Council’s Extraordinary Meeting

On 25 November, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, chaired, via videoconference,  the 23rd session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU).

The meeting addressed the audit and evaluation of the competencies of the AU Commission (SACA and the participation of His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, the President of the Republic and AU Chairman, in the G20 Summit held in Brazil on 18 and 19 November, in which the AU took part for the first time as a permanent member of this group.

In his speech, the Minister stressed the importance of member states doing their utmost to carry out the AUC skills audit and skills assessment in a way that is consistent with the spirit of the reform, does not add new burdens to member states, secures the best and most competent skills in Africa, and comes from different countries and regions of the continent to ensure the inclusion of all.
