To the Council of Ministers: Approval of the Draft Law on the Modernization of Capital Markets

The Council of Ministers met on Thursday, August 29, 2024, under the chairmanship of His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, President of the Republic.

The Council examined and approved the Bill on the modernization of the capital markets.

This bill aims to establish the legal bases of a national financial industry capable of facilitating the financing of economic operators, by soliciting national and international investors who will benefit from reliable financial infrastructures to invest their capital.

The Council deliberated on a communication presented by the Prime Minister on the commitment of the Government’s responsibility on the General Policy of the Government which will be presented to the National Assembly in accordance with Articles 42 (new), 74 and 75 of the Constitution.

The Minister of the Interior, Promotion of Decentralization and Local Development, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, presented a communication on the international situation.

The Minister of the Interior, Promotion of Decentralization and Local Development presented a communication on the domestic situation.

The Minister of Digital Transformation and Modernization of the Administration presented a communication on phases 2 and 3 of the connectivity project for the southern and southeastern border areas from Ould Yenje to N’Beiket Lahwach.

Phases 2 and 3 of the South and East Connectivity Project focus on the continuous coverage of 2G/4G electronic communications services on our border with Mali, from Ould Yenje to N’Beiket Lahwache, which would require more than a hundred sites for complete and continuous coverage of this area

The Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation presented a communication on the supply of drinking water to the city of Nouakchott.

The purpose of this communication is to present the current context of the drinking water supply in Nouakchott, as well as the measures planned to put a definitive end to the recurrent problems of drinking water shortage, recorded in recent years, particularly during the wintering period.
