President of the Republic and Spanish Prime Minister oversee MoU on circular migration and declaration of intent on fighting organized crime

On Tuesday afternoon at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott, HE President of the Republic, Chairperson of the African Union (AU), Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, , together with HE Prime Minister of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchez, oversaw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on circular migration and a joint declaration of intent on the fight against organized crime.

The MoU on circular migration between the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the Kingdom of Spain aims to establish a framework for cooperation between the two countries to address issues of common interest in the field of migration, through the implementation of a pilot project for the selection of Mauritanian workers in the country of origin.

It was signed on the Mauritanian side by the Minister of Interior, Promotion of Decentralization and Local Development, Mohamed Ahmed Ould Mohamed Lemine, and on the Spanish side by the Minister of Integration, Social Security and Migration of the Kingdom of Spain, Alma Saez Delgado.
