National Youth Council commemorates International Youth Day

The National Youth Council, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), under the supervision of the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Employment, Sports and Civil Service, Mr. Naji Ould Khatri, organized on Monday evening a framing evening on the occasion of International Youth Day.

In a speech on the occasion, Council member Outhmane Ould Ahmed said that the government of the Prime Minister Mokhtar Diay is aware of the central and pivotal place of youth in the program of His Excellency, the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, as well as the pivotal role of this group in strengthening and advancing national cohesion, which makes it responsible and effective in spreading awareness messages related to all positive values such as cohesion, consolidation of national unity, facing challenges related to employment and unemployment, combating extremism, organized crime and all scourges and other social and economic.challenges.

He added that this evening constitutes an important step towards building a generation aware of its responsibilities armed with knowledge and experience and capable of facing the challenges of the times, stressing the Council’s role in supporting youth initiatives and providing platforms that enable them to express their opinions and ambitions.

He pointed out that the cooperation with the United Nations Development Program is evidence of commitment to achieving sustainable development goals, especially those related to empowering youth and enhancing their role in society, calling on young people to benefit from various successful youth experiences and move towards a better and brighter future.

During the ceremony, the National Youth Council honored some of the outstanding students in the baccalaureate, graduates of the vocational training batch formed by the Council in cooperation with the Ministry of Empowerment, in addition to some civil society organizations active in the field of youth empowerment at the national level.
