Mauritania Strongly condemns Assassination of Palestinian Leader Ismail Haniyeh

Nouakchott

The Islamic Republic of Mauritania strongly condemned the assassination of Palestinian leader Ismail Haniyeh and expressed its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased and to the brotherly Palestinian people.

This came in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, a copy of which was received by the Mauritanian News Agency, which reads:

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad expresses its strong condemnation of the assassination of Palestinian leader Ismail Haniyeh.

On this sad occasion, the Mauritanian Government extends its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased and to the brotherly Palestinian people, asking Allah Almighty to bestow His mercy and forgiveness on him.

The Mauritanian Government considers that the assassination violates all ethical and diplomatic conventions and principles and would undermine the tireless international efforts aimed at putting an end to the cycle of violence in the Middle East and stopping the war of genocide to which the brotherly Palestinian people are being subjected at the hands of the Israeli occupation.

The Islamic Republic of Mauritania renews its call on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in enforcing respect for the requirements of international law and international humanitarian law, and to provide the necessary conditions to end the suffering of the brotherly Palestinian people and enable them to enjoy their just rights to freedom and independence.”
