National Assembly Speaker: ‘The Tragic Situation in Gaza Requires Us To Remain United in the Face of Brutal Israeli Aggression’
MP Mohamed Bamba Ould Meguett, the Speaker of the National Assembly, participated, at the head of a parliamentary delegation, in the 18th session of the Conference of the Union of Councils of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which opened on 5 March in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
In a speech delivered during the session, the Speaker of the National Assembly declared that this conference is held at a critical moment characterized by the magnitude of the political, economic, social, security, and environmental challenges facing the Islamic Ummah, which requires effective solidarity action and serious cooperation to activate joint parliamentary action.
Il a ajouté que la solidarité islamique dans les circonstances actuelles est une nécessité absolue, soulignant que la situation tragique dans la bande de Gaza exige que l’Union des Conseils des États membres de l’OCI soit unie dans la condamnation de l’agression israélienne brutale contre le peuple palestinien sans défense dans la bande de Gaza.
He added that Islamic solidarity in the current circumstances is an absolute necessity, stressing that the tragic situation in the Gaza Strip demands that the Union of Councils of the OIC Member States be united in condemning the brutal Israeli aggression against the defenseless Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
Mr. Mohamed Bamba Ould Meguett also stressed that this situation requires all Islamic parliaments to speak out against these heinous crimes and work with all the necessary will to impose an immediate and definitive ceasefire in Gaza and provide urgent food aid to the Palestinian people.
The Speaker of the National Assembly stressed that ‘the rigorous organization of the conference would contribute to the achievement of the results to which we aspire’, noting the leading role played by HE Mr. Ibrahim Bou Ghaly, the President of the Algerian People’s Assembly and President of the 17th session of the Union, which allowed for effective dynamic and significant results throughout his presidency.
