Food Security Commissioner Receives UAE Ambassador

On 5 March, in Nouakchott, Ms. Fatimettou Mint Khattry, the Commissioner for Food Security, received HE Mr. Hamad Ghanem Al Muhairi, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Mauritania.

The talks focused on cooperative relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to strengthen and develop them, particularly in the food security area.

During the meeting, the Commissioner informed the Ambassador of our country’s efforts in the field of food security and of the actions undertaken by the Commissioner’s Office as part of the implementation of the program of His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic.

She explained that her institution has begun to implement a set of important social programs for the benefit of the most vulnerable segments, noting that these have had a positive impact on the living conditions of citizens.

For his part, the UAE Ambassador expressed to the Commissioner his appreciation for the efforts of the Mauritanian government in the area of food security and support for vulnerable people.

He also expressed his country’s eagerness to strengthen cooperation with Mauritania in the food security field, within the framework of cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries.
