The Franco-African Centre for Strategic Studies organized, on Wednesday evening, at the headquarters of the Diplomatic Academy in Nouakchott, a seminar entitled “Migration between apprehension and tranquility”.
In his presentation, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Interior and Decentralization, Mr. Mohamed Mahfouz Ibrahim Ahmed, highlighted the importance of this seminar and congratulated the organizers of the Center for their successful choice of its title “Migration between Concerns and Reassurance”.
The Secretary-General stressed that Mauritania will not be a transit bridge or a home for migrants, and there are no shelters for them, denying the conclusion of any agreement with the European Union regarding migrants, considering that what is circulating in this regard is just rumors and fake news.
Mauritania and the European Union are affected by the issue of illegal immigration, he said, noting that cooperation must be made between the two sides to confront this dangerous phenomenon.
