On 25 September, in Nouakchott, Ms. Saviya Mint N’Tahah, the Minister of Social Action, Children, and Family, held a working session with a delegation of the UN Working Group on discrimination against women and girls.
The UN delegation will assess the progress made in gender equality and the elimination of discrimination against women and girls in Mauritania, as well as the legislative and policy reforms implemented to promote the rights of women and girls and fight against structural discrimination, in addition to the extent of its involvement in the political, economic, social, cultural, and health fields.
During the meeting, Ms. Mint N’Tahah presented a report on the measures taken by the Department to promote the rights of women and girls and the results obtained in this area, highlighting the policies on which the ministry is currently working.
