The Islamic Republic of Mauritania announced its support to the candidacy of the secretary general of the United Nations, Mr. Antonio Guterres, for a second term.<\/p>\n
In a communiqu\u00e9, a copy of which reached the Mauritanian News Agency, issued Tuesday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Mauritania expressed its satisfaction about the efforts made by the UN organization and its participative approach for the resolution of long-standing crises in the African continent.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Our country has learned with great satisfaction the decision of His Excellency Mr. Antonio Guterres to run for a second term as Secretary-General of the United Nations after having led the organization during the four past years with wisdom, competence in very sensitive international circumstances in the political, humanitarian, and health domains.<\/p>\n
While supporting this candidacy, the Islamic Republic of Mauritania is very pleased with the efforts of the international community, under the leadership of the Secretary General, and its participative approach for the resolution of old conflicts in the African continent and the support of security, stability, and development in the Sahel region.
