The Minister of National Defense, who is the chairman of the G-5 Sahel Council of Defense Ministers, Mr. Hanana Ould Sidi, supervised, Tuesday, at the headquarters of the G-5 Defense College in Nouakchott, the inauguration of an operational simulation center. <\/p>\n
This center, which was achieved within the framework of cooperation between the College and France\u2019s Directorate for Military and Security Cooperation, will enable the provision of the required academic and military training in the group\u2019s context, in accordance with the latest international and technical standards in this field. <\/p>\n
The ceremony that was held on the occasion was marked by a presentation on the G-5 Sahel Defense College presented by the Director of the College, General Ibrahim Vall Ould Cheibani, and another presentation on the new center and the tasks assigned to it in the framework of the military personnel training in the group’s member countries, presented by the director of the center, Commander Mohamed Salem Beheitt. <\/p>\n
The Minister of National Defense, accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armies, Major General Mohamed Bamba Meguett, and their accompanying delegation toured the various wings of the new center, where they were received detailed explanations about the qualitative contribution expected from the center to the academic and military training in the G-5 Sahel member countries. <\/p>\n
In his speech on the occasion, the College director thanked France and all the Member States of the European Union and other partners, for their fruitful, constructive, and multifaceted cooperation with the College, on the one hand, and the G-5 Sahel member countries on the other, particularly in the military and security fields. <\/p>\n
He added that the establishment of this center will constitute a qualitative complement to the academic training of the college due to the facilities and the flow of information that it will provide to the trainees, which will help the G-5 Sahel joint force to build, permanently, the capacities and the competencies of their soldiers in all the fields. <\/p>\n
General Brahim Vall Ould Cheibani explained that simulation has become a necessity in military training because of the facilities it offers to trainees to acquire scientific knowledge and the time it saves, not to mention the provision of means. <\/p>\n
For his part, the French Ambassador to Mauritania, Mr. Robert Moulli\u00e9, explained that this center will offer many opportunities for education and military training, especially for the G-5 Sahel countries in the military and security fields. <\/p>\n
The French diplomat renewed his country’s permanent commitment to support the countries of the group, particularly in the military and security fields, welcoming, in this regard, the pivotal role that Mauritania played in the establishment of the G-5 Sahel and in the construction of the Group\u2019s Defense College and other cooperation and integration programs in its geographical area. <\/p>\n
The French Ambassador praised the cooperation of the United States of America, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and other partners of the G-5 Sahel.<\/p>\n
