On 24 March, Ms. Mariem Bekaye, the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, received Mr. Ibrahim Thiaw, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), Who is visiting Mauritania.<\/p>\n
This meeting is part of the preparation for the next Conference of the Parties to the Convention to Combat Desertification (COP 15) to be held in Abidjan from 9 to 30 May 2022.<\/p>\n
The discussion touched on the mechanism for preparing for the high-level meeting and ministerial round tables, which will address the issues related to the future of land governance, restoration of degraded land, ecosystems, and communities\u2019 resilience to drought.<\/p>\n
For our country, the Cop 15 summit will be an occasion to pursue efforts to promote the Great Green Wall as a flagship program that will transform rural production systems and increase the chances of improving people’s living conditions
