The Ninth World Water Forum started on 21 March in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic. <\/p>\n
The current six-day session is organized under the theme: \u201cWater Security for Peace and Development\u201d. <\/p>\n
The leaders of some countries and the ministers concerned with water issues, as well as investors and donors intervening in this vital and important field take part in this international meeting, which strives to present ideas and proposals to address the challenges facing the world in terms of access to water. <\/p>\n
This major global forum, organized jointly by the World Water Council and the Republic of Senegal, is broken down into a roadmap with four fundamental priorities: water security and sanitation (i), water for rural development (ii), cooperation (iii) and tools and means (iv). <\/p>\n
In an opening speech, Mr. Macky Sall, the President of the Republic of Senegal and President-in-Office of the African Union, reviewed the challenges facing the world in water supply and reduction of industrial pollution. <\/p>\n
The World Water Forum is held every three years, with the aim of increasing the importance of water resources in the political agenda of governments, deepening the discussions and exchange experiences to draw a perception on the mechanisms to meet the challenges of water and to formulate concrete proposals in this regard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
