On 9 March, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, participated in the 157th ordinary session of the Arab League Foreign Ministers, in Cairo. <\/p>\n
In his remarks on this occasion, the Minister stressed the need for Arab countries to close ranks and coordinate their efforts to face the complex international circumstances where the world is suffering the growing consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, the remnants of war, the alarming rise in energy prices, and the threat to global food security. <\/p>\n
He also reiterated Mauritania’s full commitment to the objectives of the League of Arab States and its determined efforts to promote joint Arab action, highlighting the importance of the Arab Summit for economic and social development. <\/p>\n
In this regard, Mr. Cheikh Ahmed noted that our country is striving to ensure that the fifth session of this Summit, which Mauritania will host next year, meets the expectations of Arab leaders and people. <\/p>\n
Regarding the Palestinian issue, the minister stressed the firm position of our country on the Palestinian cause, namely, the creation of an independent Palestinian state with Al Quds-al-Sharif as its capital on the borders of 4 June 1967, in accordance with relevant international resolutions and references. <\/p>\n
On the sidelines of the session, the Minister met, successively, with Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of State in charge of the Affairs of the Council of Ministers of Kuwait, Mr. Ramtane Lamamra, the Algerian Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Essevir Aly Sadigh, the Sudanese Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs, and Sheikh Khalifa Bin Ali Bin Issa al Harthi, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diplomacy of the Sultanate of Oman.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
