On 6 March, Mr. Rassoul Ould El Khal, the Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights, Humanitarian Action, and Relations with Civil Society, supervised, in Nema (wilaya of Hodh Echarghi), the launch of the commemorative activities of the national day for the fight against slavery practices which coincides with 6 March of each year. <\/p>\n
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stressed that the commemoration of this day explicitly reflects the determination of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, to continue efforts aimed at eradicating slavery and its aftermaths, including its contemporary forms. <\/p>\n
He added that our country has drawn up law 031-2015 criminalizing slavery and punishing slavery practices as part of a legal arsenal that aims at eliminating all forms of exploitation of man by man, particularly those relating to human trafficking. <\/p>\n
Aware of the importance of the role it plays in the field of the promotion and protection of human rights in the country, Mr. Ould El Khal indicated that his department had organized several workshops and awareness-raising campaigns on the dangers of slavery practices and the need to eradicate their effects, given the importance of the issue for social cohesion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
