On 11 December, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, accompanied by the Wali of Adrar, Mr. Haddadi Mpaly Yatera, and a high-level diplomatic delegation, visited the Guelb Richatt area, 45 km north of the Moughataa of Wadane. <\/p>\n
The visit allowed visitors to this unique monument in the world to take souvenir photos in this area formerly known as “A\u00efn Sahara” (Eye of the desert). <\/p>\n
In a statement to the Mauritanian news agency (AMI), the Minister stressed that this visit is part of the program of the Festival of Heritage Cities to learn about the cultural and tourist reputation of the city of Wadane. <\/p>\n
He added that it was necessary to welcome some members of the diplomatic corps to learn about the extent of the cultural reputation of this historic city, which was and still is a source of propagation of moderate Islam in the region and in the world. <\/p>\n
Mr. Ould Cheikh Ahmed pointed out that Wadane contains important cultural treasures and several unique archaeological areas in the world. <\/p>\n
The Minister explained that the city of Wadane is a model of tolerance and civilizational convergence, indicating that His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, attaches great importance to culture and heritage. <\/p>\n
