The President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, performed the Friday prayer at the old mosque in the historic town of Wadane. The prayer was led by the Imam Cheikh Ould Mohamed Cheikh Ehilna. <\/p>\n
In his khutba, the imam urged the believers to cling to the Islamic religion, the sharia, and the noble Islamic values. <\/p>\n
He also called for promoting fraternity, solidarity, and cohesion between all members of society. <\/p>\n
After the prayer, the President of the Republic attended a conference delivered by Mr. Dah Ould Sidi Ould Taleb Amar, the Minister of Islamic Affairs and Original education, on the importance of science, Sharia, and Islamic civilization. <\/p>\n
The President of the Republic then kicked off the final phase of the competition of the Holy Quran recitation, the hadith, and the Life of the Prophet Mohamed, Peace, and Benediction Be Upon Him. <\/p>\n
The competition, organized on the sidelines of the Heritage Cities Festival, takes place in two phases, a selection phase at the level of each of the historic cities (Chinguietti, Wadane, Tichit, and Walata) and a final. It brings together the candidates selected by each city. <\/p>\n
On-site, the President of the Republic followed explanations provided by the Director of Islamic Guidance on the competition. <\/p>\n
His Excellency the President of the Republic also inaugurated a pilot mahadra created by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in Wadane and hosts sixty students. <\/p>\n
