The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ahmed Babe Eli, received yesterday, Tuesday, in Nouakchott, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Mauritania, His Excellency Mr. Pablo Barbara G\u00f3mez.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of agricultural development.<\/p>\n
His Excellency the Minister outlined the sector\u2019s strategic priorities, emphasizing the importance of drawing on Spanish expertise to develop production systems, improve water resource management, increase productivity, and encourage agricultural investment.<\/p>\n
He stressed the need to develop sustainable agriculture that contributes to enhancing food security, creating job opportunities, and improving living conditions in rural areas, highlighting four priority areas for cooperation: connecting isolated production areas, developing renewable energy, supporting agricultural financing mechanisms, and establishing an agricultural insurance mechanism.<\/p>\n
For his part, the Spanish ambassador expressed his appreciation for the sector\u2019s strategic directions, affirming his country\u2019s readiness to support Mauritania in implementing its development priorities and praising the level of cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the agricultural sector.<\/p>\n
