President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani on Tuesday received the credentials of Shakilla K. Umutoni, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Rwanda to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott.<\/p>\n
Following the ceremony, President El Ghazouani granted an audience to the Rwandan ambassador in the presence of Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad.<\/p>\n
In a statement to the Mauritanian news agency (AMI) at the end of the meeting, the Rwanda\u2019s newly appointed Ambassador Umutoni said she was honoured to be received by the Mauritanian president and to present her credentials as Rwanda\u2019s Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.<\/p>\n
She said the occasion also provided an opportunity to convey fraternal greetings from Rwandan President Paul Kagame to his Mauritanian counterpart.<\/p>\n
The ambassador described relations between Rwanda and Mauritania as excellent, particularly in the political and diplomatic spheres. She noted that both sides had expressed their commitment to further strengthening these ties by building on the solid foundations already established.<\/p>\n
According to Umutoni, the two countries also intend to pursue concrete projects in areas of mutual interest to translate their strong political and diplomatic relations into tangible results.<\/p>\n
She expressed gratitude for the meeting and the encouragement she received from President El Ghazouani, voicing hope that the coming days, weeks, and months would bring further achievements in bilateral cooperation.<\/p>\n
The ambassador reaffirmed her commitment to advancing relations between Rwanda and Mauritania and turning their shared aspirations into practical outcomes.<\/p>\n
The ceremony was attended by Nani Ould Chrougha, Minister in charge of the President\u2019s Cabinet; Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad; Harouna Traore, Adviser to the President; and Mohamed El Hanchi El Kettab, Director General of Bilateral Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n
