The Somali minister, serving as a special envoy of President Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, delivered a written message from the Somali leader.<\/p>\n<p>Following the meeting, the special envoy, in a statement conveyed through Somalia&#8217;s Ambassador to Mauritania, Youssouf Ahmed Hassan, said he was honored to be received by President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani. He conveyed the greetings of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and said the written message reaffirmed Somalia&#8217;s deep appreciation for Mauritania and the two countries&#8217; shared determination to elevate their longstanding fraternal relations into a stronger strategic partnership.<\/p>\n<p>The envoy said the discussions underscored the historic and brotherly ties between Mauritania and Somalia, founded on shared religious and cultural values, mutual respect, and common positions on preserving national sovereignty, strengthening security and stability, and promoting sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p>He also expressed Somalia&#8217;s appreciation for Mauritania&#8217;s consistent support for the country&#8217;s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, while commending Mauritania&#8217;s leading role in Arab and African affairs, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and other regional and international forums.<\/p>\n<p>Both sides stressed the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including diplomacy, security, counterterrorism, education, fisheries, livestock, maritime cooperation, energy, and institutional capacity building, to advance the shared interests of both countries.<\/p>\n<p>The Somali envoy concluded by thanking the President of the Republic, the Mauritanian government, and the Mauritanian people for their warm welcome and hospitality.
