Today, Tuesday, at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott, His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, received two delegations: one from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), led by its CEO, Mr. Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, and another from ACWA Power, led by the Chairman of its Board of Directors, Mr. Mohammad Abdullah Abunayyan.<\/p>\n
Following the meeting, the CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development made a statement to the Mauritanian News Agency, expressing his honor at meeting His Excellency the President. He noted that they reviewed the development projects currently financed by the Fund across several sectors, including energy, water, health, and education.<\/p>\n
He added that he received directives from His Excellency the President emphasizing the need to accelerate the completion of these projects to maximize their economic and social benefits for Mauritania. He also noted that he briefed the President on the detailed progress of these initiatives.<\/p>\n
He explained that the Saudi Fund for Development has been a strategic development partner of Mauritania for more than 45 years, during which it has financed numerous development projects and programs across various vital sectors.<\/p>\n
Mr. Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad reaffirmed that the Fund will, God willing, continue its role as a strategic partner to Mauritania, wishing the country continued progress, prosperity, and growth.<\/p>\n
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACWA Power expressed his honor at meeting His Excellency the President. He stated that he listened to the President’s directives, which reflect his deep appreciation for the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia\u2014the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman\u2014as well as for the distinguished relations and partnership between the two countries.<\/p>\n
He explained that the meeting addressed the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation, culminating in the signing of a strategic project in partnership with the Saudi Fund for Development. The project includes the construction of a gas pipeline and a modern power plant using advanced technologies under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework, with the participation of ACWA Power and local partners, including SOMELEC, Mauritania’s national electricity company.<\/p>\n
The Chairman of ACWA Power described the project as an advanced model of cooperation between Mauritania and Saudi Arabia, reflecting the depth of the relationship between the two countries and their leaderships.<\/p>\n
