The US Embassy in Nouakchott hosted a reception this Wednesday evening to mark the 250th anniversary of US independence.<\/p>\n
The government was represented at the event by His Excellency the Minister of Justice, Mr Mohamed Ould Asouidat; the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad; His Excellency the Minister of Defence, Retirees and Children of Martyrs, Mr Hanan Ould Sidi; His Excellency the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Mr Mohamed Ould Khaled; and the Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, Mr Harouna Traor\u00e9.<\/p>\n
In a speech delivered on the occasion, the Charg\u00e9 d\u2019Affaires at the US Embassy in Mauritania, Ms Corina R. Sanders, noted that this year\u2019s celebration coincides with the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.<\/p>\n
She expressed her hope for enhanced cooperation between the two countries in various fields, serving mutual interests and supporting security, stability and prosperity.<\/p>\n
She noted that Mauritania possesses promising economic potential thanks to its abundance of natural resources, including hydrocarbon and mineral reserves and fisheries, emphasising that these assets are capable of supporting comprehensive economic development and achieving greater prosperity for citizens.<\/p>\n
She added that the stability and security enjoyed by Mauritania reflect the authorities\u2019 commitment to serving citizens and promoting development, praising the level of cooperation between the two countries and the continuous progress being made.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
