The sessions of the 61st Meeting of the Board of Governors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the 52nd Meeting of the Board of Governors of the African Development Fund (ADF), held as part of the AfDB Group 2026 Annual Meetings, began on May 27 under the theme: \u201cMobilizing resources at scale to finance Africa\u2019s development in a globally fragmented world,\u201d in the presence of Mr. Abdallahi Souleymane Cheikh Sidiya, Minister of Economic Affairs and Development.<\/p>\n
In a speech before the Board of Governors on the occasion, the Minister expressed his sincere gratitude to the Republic of the Congo for its warm hospitality and the excellent organization of this important continental event.<\/p>\n
He stated that, under the leadership of His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, Mauritania remains firmly committed to working toward a more integrated, resilient, and prosperous Africa, while supporting the AfDB\u2019s strategic role in the continent\u2019s economic transformation. This vision is being implemented by the government of His Excellency the Prime Minister, Mr. El Moctar Ould Djay, through public policies that ensure macroeconomic stability, structural transformation, and sustainable development.<\/p>\n
The Minister congratulated the AfDB Group President for the structural reforms that have strengthened the institution\u2019s efficiency and credibility. He particularly praised the historic success and record level achieved during the 17th replenishment of the ADF resources (ADF-17), which reached 11 billion dollars thanks to unprecedented mobilization and broad contributions from African countries.<\/p>\n
The Minister also reviewed Mauritania\u2019s effective contribution to this continental momentum through the implementation of ambitious economic reforms, the development of strategic infrastructure, the promotion of private investment, and efforts to harness the country\u2019s vast potential in renewable energy, green hydrogen, natural gas, and the construction of regional connectivity networks aimed at strengthening African economic integration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
