The Mauritanian Maritime Affairs Agency (AMAM) has announced that Mauritania has been included on the International Maritime Organization\u2019s \u201cwhite list\u201d as a state committed to applying international standards relating to the training of seafarers and the issuance of maritime certificates and licenses.<\/p>\n
In a statement, a copy of which was received by the Mauritanian News Agency, the AMAM stated that this international recognition reflects the compliance of the national maritime training and qualification system with globally recognized standards. It also opens up vast professional prospects for Mauritanian maritime professionals to integrate into the international maritime labor market, particularly in the fields of maritime transport, specialized maritime services, the oil and gas sector, work on offshore platforms, as well as fishing in foreign waters and other professions linked to internationally recognized maritime qualifications.<\/p>\n
The Agency added that this achievement embodies the tangible progress made by Mauritania at the regulatory, technical and administrative levels in the maritime sector, as part of the institutional modernization process launched by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, through the creation of the Mauritanian Maritime Affairs Agency. It also reflects the efforts made by the government of the Prime Minister, Mr. Moctar Ould Djay, to develop the maritime sector and enhance the efficiency of administrative performance.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime and Port Infrastructure, through the Mauritanian Maritime Affairs Agency, has affirmed its commitment to continuing efforts to consolidate and develop the maritime governance system in order to ensure its compliance with international standards and requirements, whilst keeping pace with the rapid changes taking place in the national maritime sector.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
