On 13 January, in Nouakchott, \u00a0Mr. Abdallahi Souleymane Cheikh Sidiya, Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, held talks with Mr. Idrissa Sompare, head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) mission in Mauritania.<\/span><\/p>\n

The meeting took place in the context of consultations on a plan to strengthen the resilience of refugees in Mauritania.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the meeting, the two sides discussed joint coordination mechanisms to ensure the success of this plan and the IOM\u2019s role in supporting national efforts to improve the living conditions of refugees and integrate them into the country’s comprehensive development approaches. <\/span><\/p>\n

This effort falls in the framework of Mauritania’s regional leadership role in managing the refugee issue, based on the Mauritanian approach that seeks to transform the challenges of asylum into development opportunities that benefit both refugees and host communities.<\/span><\/p>\n
